FLORIDA SWING
Staying true to tradition, the Alumni Association conducted its
Florida Swing in late February and early March. Senior Vice President
for External Relations and Campus Life Ron Yoshida and other Lehigh
staff members traveled to Vero Beach , Palm Beach , Bonita Springs
and Sarasota to meet and mingle with alumni and give them an update
on the state of the university.

the beautiful Hampshire House on historic Beacon Hill for the
inaugural reception of the Living the Legacy Scholarship.

LEHIGH CLUB OF ATLANTA: SPRING RECEPTION FEATURING PRESIDENT JIMMY
CARTER
President Jimmy Carter was the highlight of the Lehigh Club of
Atlanta Spring Reception on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 held at
the Carter Presidential Center. Carter addressed an awe-struck
crowd of nearly 100 Lehigh alumni, family, friends and even incoming
students. He discussed his Lehigh connections through Jim Stanard
'70 and Lee Iacocca '45, as well as explained the humanitarian
work of the Carter Center, which offers direct aid at the grassroots
level and often works side by side to the people they are helping.
The audience was then treated to a Lehigh update by Mark Erickson
'91G, vice president for administrative and government affairs
and soon-to-be President of Wittenberg University, followed by
a cocktail reception and tour of The Jimmy Carter Library and
Museum.

LOOKING AHEAD
INCOMING STUDENT
SEND OFFS
Join us in welcoming the Class of 2009! In late July and early
August, various clubs will be hosting Incoming Student Sendoffs
to get our new students geared up for the fall. Sendoffs give
a chance for alumni, undergraduates, and incoming students to
meet and mingle, share their favorite Lehigh stories, answer any
last minute questions that the incoming students (or their parents)
may have and to welcome them into the Lehigh Family. Please keep
an eye on your e-mail for additional details.
ALUMNI APPRECIATION DAYS
We appreciate you! Because of all of the hard work and dedication
that our alumni clubs and volunteers give, we will be holding
our Fourth Annual Alumni Appreciation Days during late July and
early August 2005. First, we will be holding Tandemonium at the
Lehigh Valley Velodrome on Saturday, July 23, 2005 . We have rented
out the deck at the Velodrome to watch the excitement of tandem
racing in which professional men and women racers from around
the world compete on bicycles built for two.
We will be continuing the tradition of our “day at the races”
with a four-day Weekend Package Deal at Watkins Glen Road Course
Grand AM Series Race, NASCAR Busch Race, and NASCAR Nextel Cup
Race on August 11-14, 2005 . On Sunday, August 14, 2005, you will
receive access credentials to the Vineyard Corporate Pavilion
located at the finish line (semi-private environment), with easy-access
parking and grandstand reserved seating, a covered hospitality
area with courtyard, self-guided pre-race pit tours, a question
and answer session with a motor sports personality, an event weekend
souvenir program, continental breakfast and an upscale buffet
lunch and beverage service. The cost is $218.75 per person but
transportation and lodging is not included. If you have any questions,
