Class
of 2008 Sendoffs
Another
summer has come and gone, and so has another successful season of Incoming
Student Sendoffs. This past July and August, 24 of our alumni clubs welcomed
the Class of 2008 in every corner of the country ranging from Los Angeles,
Seattle, Raleigh, Vermont and everywhere in between!
Incoming students and their families gathered
at alumni's homes, restaurants, parks and even an ice cream parlor to meet
fellow classmates and make new friends before officially setting foot on
South Mountain . They also had a chance to meet and mingle with a number
of Lehigh alumni over light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments. Incoming students
enjoyed the opportunity to ask upperclassmen and alumni last-minute questions
about Lehigh, who were more than happy to oblige with advice and personal
stories of their experiences at their alma mater.

The
Lehigh Clubs of the Susquehanna Valley
The Lehigh Clubs of Central
Pennsylvania , Lancaster and York joined forces in May 2004 and have
merged into a single entity, the Lehigh Clubs of the Susquehanna Valley
. The new Club's first official event was a Harrisburg Senators game
and picnic in June, followed by the Class of 2008 Sendoff at the Hershey
Country Club in July. The Sendoff had an excellent turnout of incoming
students, family and alumni, which, according to Co-President Randy
Blasdell '82, “points to a bright future for our newly combined club.”
The Club presidents are confident
that the new structure will help local alumni gain greater access to
an increased number of events, leading to higher attendance and participation.
“The alumni in our area will be better served by this new arrangement,”
said Co-President Ross Santangelo '84.
The Club plans on having a
variety of events in York , Lancaster and Harrisburg and encourages
alumni to contact them with ideas for future events. The Lehigh Clubs
of the Susquehanna Valley are currently making plans for the 140 th
meeting of the Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry scheduled for November 20, 2004
.
