2006 Club Report

October 2007

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends,

The Lehigh Club of Washington, D.C. has experienced quite a few changes in the past year. Our former president, Christina Vitt ’00, accepted a new position in New York City, and our former secretary, Jason Faberman ’98, has moved to Philadelphia for a new job as well. Greg Palmer ’04, a Board member who was instrumental in putting together our Career Networking Reception last January, will be leaving us to cross the pond for new adventures in London. We will miss them and all of their hard work and experience.

As a result, we have elected a new Board of Directors. We are all excited about our new positions. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions you may have. Remember, this is your club, so let us know what other types of events you’d like to see and we’ll do our best to add them.

We have been working hard to add new and exciting events to our calendar. The “Year in Review” will catch you up on what the club has been doing, and the “Calendar of Events” describes upcoming events. Special thanks to Jessica Roche ’00 for volunteering to help start up some Lehigh sports teams. We are hoping to get a volleyball or basketball team together for the winter and a softball team for the spring. Please contact Jessica (see “Board Contact Information” below) if you would like to come out and represent the Mountain Hawks (or Engineers)!

I would like to thank everyone who has given their time and resources to make the Club a success – Cliff ’73, ’10P and Ginny Eby ’10P, Jessica Roche ’00 and the rest of the D.C. board. We are always looking for more members to help out on the board, so if you are interested, please contact me.

As a final reminder, our club currently requires no dues. However, monetary contributions help us provide bigger and better events, and we appreciate donations of any size. If you desire, please send contributions to our Club Treasurer Anne Kline ’81. We are considering instating membership dues, and I would appreciate any feedback you may have concerning that idea.

Thank you for helping to make the Lehigh Club of Washington, D.C. a success. I look forward to seeing you at future events!

Regards,

Alix Echelmeyer ’04
President, Lehigh Club of Washington, D.C.

Our happy hours continue to be a hit with alumni of all ages. We try to keep the venues fresh and exciting, so please let us know if you have a great location. One of our most recent happy hours was co-sponsored with Lafayette, and alumni from the rival school gathered with Lehigh alumni to welcome some of the newest graduates to the D.C. area.

St. Patrick’s Day Party, March 2007
Lehigh again teamed up with Bucknell, Lafayette and Holy Cross alumni for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration. We had a huge turnout of over 60 people, taking over the back of the bar at 4 Green Fields (formerly the 4 P’s) in Cleveland Park.

Gold Cup, May 2007

Boat Cruise on the Potomac, July 13th, 2007
Lehigh partnered with Bucknell, Lafayette and Holy Cross alumni for a cruise on the Potomac! It was a fun trip, and gave Lehigh alumni a chance to mingle with graduates from that school in Easton, as well as other Patriot League alumni.

Class of 2011 Incoming Student Sendoff, August 5th, 2007
Once again, Cliff ’73, ’10P and Ginny Eby ’10P kindly opened their home to us as we sent off the newest Lehigh class. We thank them for their hospitality and wish the Class of 2011 the best of luck!
