Greetings Fellow Twin Cities Area Alumni and Friends,

A year and a half ago I reported to you that we formalized our club with the backing of Lehigh’s Alumni Clubs office, and formed a volunteer Board of Directors. We were sad to see Vince Battistelli '75 leave us for Virginia in August, 2006. This fall we are pleased to announce we’ve elected Richard Hallahan ‘91, to fill the open seat on our Board, as Member at Large. Rich has been active in the group since moving to the Twin Cities two years ago and we are glad to have him on board.

My primary goal continues to be the growth of the club in numbers of active participants. There are hundreds of alumni living in the area, and we’ve had people of all ages attend over the past few years (including newborns!). We’d love to see new faces – if you have suggestions for a location of type of event that would be of interest, I invite you to e-mail me or anyone on the board. Consider this an invitation to join us at our next gathering. If you’ve only been coming to the telecast, join us on one other occasion.

To promote the continued health of the Club, we have offered a range of events over the course of the past year. Events included the annual football telecast, where we were honored that Charles F. Zell ’38 joined us for the first time with his son and two great-grandsons. We also had a successful potluck picnic and concert at Lake Harriet Bandshell, in June, in addition to a couple informal happy hour gatherings throughout the year.

In addition to social events, the Club’s AAO members have played an active role in promoting Lehigh throughout the Twin Cities area by volunteering to attend the annual national college fair, interviewing potential students, hosting an accepted students event as well as the Incoming Student Sendoff. If you or your family knows of high schoolers interested in Lehigh, please share with them about our local network.

As mentioned, we are volunteer-run! I’d like to personally thank these individuals for their commitment and dedication to Lehigh and the alumni club:

UPCOMING EVENTS We conducted our last Board of Directors Meeting on Thursday, September 20th, amidst a lovely dinner at the Drange residence, and severe thunderstorms. The Board has drafted the following slate of events for this coming year.
