2006 Club Report

October 2007

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Alumni and Friends,

Welcome to the start of another academic year, and another year of great activities for the
Lehigh Club of New York! We are very proud of our accomplishments over the past year and we look forward to continuing that tradition with more Lehigh events and even better opportunities for our members.
For the uninitiated, our goal is to serve the needs of the Lehigh alumni community in the New York City metropolitan area with social, networking, and cultural events and opportunities. Enclosed you will find a list of a portion of our accomplishments from the past year, as well as some of the exciting events we have lined up for this year.
We'll be sure to keep you updated by e-mail, but you can also obtain details of all our events by going to our club Web site at www.lehighnyc.org. We are always searching for volunteers to run events and to be a part of the Lehigh Club of New York- please contact me by phone (646-623-4225) or e-mail (daz4@alumni.lehigh.edu) if you would like to volunteer or just offer your opinions. We look forward to seeing you this year!

Sincerely,

Daniel A. Zarrilli '97
President, Lehigh Club of New York

YEAR IN REVIEW

Lehigh Club of New York Year in Review

October 2006

Lehigh alumni continue to rally for our many happy hour and social events. Last October we gathered with other Patriot League alumni at Turtle Bay. We met again in December at the Town Tavern, owned and operated by Christian Prior '01, for some holiday cheer.

November 2006

November 16th
A huge crowd gathered again at Turtle Bay for the annual telecast of the clash with Lafayette. It may not have been the right outcome, but the Lehigh faithful turned out in force to watch the game and have fun with friends.

January 2007

January 19th
We enjoyed a trip to see the award-winning Broadway musical “Spring Awakening” and were rewarded with an exclusive talk-back with the cast and crew after the show.

We kept January rolling by co-sponsoring a Career Networking Reception for prospective employers and employees from the Lehigh alumni family in the area.

January 28th
Lehigh Wrestling stormed Manhattan as the Mountain Hawks took on #3 ranked Hofstra. Be on the lookout for more Lehigh athletics events in New York City this coming year!

May 2007

May 2nd
This date marked a ground-breaking 61st presentation of the prestigious L-in-Life Award, as the award was presented to a Lehigh alumna for the first time. The Lehigh faithful gathered at Cipriani on West 23rd Street to honor Karen Stuckey ’75 for her extraordinary commitment and dedication to Lehigh and to her community.

August 2007

August 2nd
Micah D'Amato '99 was gracious enough to host the Damato family’s 5th Incoming Student Sendoff for us last August in Tribeca. The Class of 2011 was sent off in fine New York fashion to begin their Lehigh journey. The Club was proud to award its 4th annual Book Scholarship of $500 to
Andrew Schwartz '11 of Manhattan. Schwartz wrote:
As I move forward to the invigorating life on campus of Lehigh University, I hope to maintain my interest in cultural diversity by studying the interactions between different countries’ civilizations.

Congrats and Good Luck Andrew!
