LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends:

It has been a busy year for the Lehigh Club here in the Connecticut Valley and in the coming year we hope to continue to provide you with the opportunity to reconnect with the Lehigh family who lives in the Connecticut Valley. Since I last wrote, the Board of Directors has met several times both on the phone and in person. In addition to the Board meetings, the larger Club has had several opportunities to gather and I thank those who have helped make this year a success.

I encourage all of you to get involved with the Lehigh Club of the Connecticut Valley. There are several ways you can do so:
- Attend an event
- Contact me and let me know what activities you would like to see the Club do.
- Sign up on our Yahoo! Group to see what is going on and offer your suggestions. Click here!
- Join the Club - help support Club activities by being a dues-paying member. Your dues money helps to support the Incoming Student Sendoff which is a free event to welcome the newest members of the Lehigh family.
- Join the Board - we are looking for new members (especially young alumni)!
- Become an Alumni Admissions Outreach volunteer. The Alumni Admissions Outreach program is active in the area and needs volunteers to attend college fairs. If you are interested in participating or being the AAO Chair for our Club, please contact me or e-mail lehighaao@lehigh.edu.

November 2006
18th: Lehigh v. Lafayette Telecast at Cocktails on the Green in Cromwell, CT. Check the telecast Web site at www.lehigh.edu/telecast starting October 17th for more details and to register online. This year show the Lehigh spirit of goodwill and generosity by bringing non-perishable food items to benefit Food Share for the holiday season.
22nd: Lehigh Men's Basketball at Quinnipiac, 4:00 p.m.
25th: Lehigh Men's Basketball at Harvard, 1:00 p.m.

January 2007
27th: Lehigh Men's Basketball at Holy Cross, time TBA.

April 2007
29th: Lehigh Women's Crew races at the Patriot League Championships in Worcester MA.

YEAR IN REVIEW

In November we once again joined with our friends from Lafayette for the Lehigh-Lafayette Telecast at Cocktails on the Green in Cromwell. There was a large group from both schools and some of the lucky attendees walked away with great gifts from the Alumni Office.
On December 5th we held our fall dinner at the State Capitol with Hannah W. Stewart-Gambino from Lehigh's Political Science department. Professor Gambino addressed the question: "Why exactly does Pat Robertson want the U.S. government to assassinate Hugo Chavez?" It was a great discussion on current trends in Latin American politics. We also got a tour of the State Capitol from State Senator Jonathan Harris. A huge thank you to Matt Salner '04 for organizing this event for us!
We took a few current students from the area out to dinner at Bertucci's in Newington during their winter break.
On June 27th the Club got together at a Rock-Cats baseball game - the weather was perfect for an evening at the ballpark!
After last year's stormy Sendoff, this year's was quite calm and enjoyable! We gathered once again at the West Hartford home of Mark Proft '79 on August 1st to welcome the new students into the Lehigh family. There were 24 students from the Connecticut Valley area who headed off to South Mountain this year. Thank you to all who came to make this event a success - especially Dave Leeds '96 who helped organize this event!
